Goose Pimple Junction is just recovering from a kidnapping and a murder, its first major crimes in years, when trouble begins anew. Life is turned upside down in the quirky little southern town with the arrival of several shifty hooligans: A philandering husband intent on getting his wife back, another murderer loose in town, a stalker intent on frightening Martha Maye, and a thief who’s
stealing the town blind of their pumpkins, pies, and peace. Together, they’re scaring the living daylights out of the residents and keeping the new police chief busier than a set of jumper cables at a redneck picnic. Suddenly, he has his hands full trying to apprehend a killer, stop a stalker, and fight his feelings for the damsel in distress.

HAVE YOU MET AMY?

Amy MetzAmy Metz is the author of the Goose Pimple Junction mystery series. She is a former first grade teacher and the mother of two sons. When not writing, enjoying her family, or surfing Pinterest, Amy can usually be found with a mixing spoon, camera, or book in one hand and a glass of sweet tea in the other. Amy lives in Louisville, Kentucky and loves a good Southern phrase. She can be reached at her website http://amymetz.com or her blog http://abluemillionbooks.blogspot.com

Did you find another Historical event to base the second book, or had fun  flowing with characterization?
I just had fun with the characters and let them lead me. Poor Martha Maye had such a hard time with her soon-to-be-ex-husband. The story just took off once he came to town.

Did you write both books together?
I started Heroes & Hooligans right after I finished Murder & Mayhem--actually while it was being edited.

Was there a break in between books?
I didn't really take a break in writing the books, but there is a few months' gap in their timing. Murder & Mayhem ends in August and Heroes and Hooligans picks up in October. Martha Maye has moved out of her mother, Louetta's house, and she's gotten a job at the elementary school when Heroes begins.

Did it feel like revisiting old friends?
It's always good to be in Goose Pimple Junction. I really do miss it when I'm not there.

In the sequel did you feel a relationship between you and the characters
grow?

I do get to know the characters the more I'm with them, but this book has different main characters than the first one, so it was fun fleshing out their personalities. There will always be the same core group in each book in the series, but they will have different main characters. I'm writing the third book now, where Pickle's mother Caledonia is the main character. I'm having a lot of fun with her.
