1) What inspired you to write this book?

The horrific consequences of children who are abandoned, is a subject which I believe needs all of our attention. We ignore situations at our peril. This is what I burned to explore. There is so much that we could all easily do to improve the 'circumstances' of children.

2) How long did it take you to write the book?

My books typically take about 6 months to write but a further 6 months to a year to fully percolate and form till I'm happy to let them go out into the world alone.

3) Coffee or Tea?

Both. I prefer coffee but I drink more tea. This is because I think tea is better for me. Or perhaps to withhold treats till I think I deserve them!

4) Describe your special writing place

I have a cabin in the garden which I bought on Ebay and it came from Lithuania. It is painted a blue grey and I love it. Sometimes it is used for guests to sleep in. My son also paints in there, so it’s a lively, happy place but calm when I am there writing.

5)Are you a plotter or a pantser?

I am both. I think for the first few years, I was a total pantser and this was perhaps necessary, to give myself the freedom to write what had to be written. Now I am free of my own 'circumstances' and have a cooler eye for structure, for organisation. But characterisation will always be my overriding passion.

Jenny Morton Potts was born in a smart, dull suburb of Glasgow where the only regular excitement was burglary. Attended a smart, dull school where the only regular excitement was the strap. Worked in smart, dull sales and marketing jobs until realising she was living someone else’s life.

Escaped to Gascony to make gîtes. Knee deep in cement and pregnant, Jenny was happy. Then autism and a distracted spine surgeon who wanted to talk about The Da Vinci Code, wiped out the order. Returned to wonderful England – and unlikely ever to leave again – Jenny, with assistance from loyal hound, walked and swam her way back to manageable health.

Jenny would like to see the Northern Lights but worries that’s the best bit and should be saved till last. Very happily, and gratefully, partnered for 28 years, she ought to mention, and living with inspirational child in Thaxted, Essex.

His superpower: the ability to channel the Collective Unconscious, a psychic network connecting the living and the dead. In his arsenal are the skills of Bruce Lee, the strength of Samson, the wisdom of the ages...and the dancing chops of Michael Jackson—including that one twisty foot move, crotch grab, and fedora tilt. Someone seems to have misplaced the booster necessary for stabilizing his superpower. Without it, Edger has three days before his brain turns to pudding. Join our Dork of Destiny as he overcomes the world’s greatest butt, two rival Cluck-n-Pray gangs, an evil cow, a Green Bay Defensive Tackle, rifle-toting assassins—and a pair of stoners who inadvertently create the world’s first supervillain after a wild night on Twitter!

Excerpt-

I tense up and shove an elbow over the broken glass in the window frame. My body armor crushes it like peanut shells.
“Help!”
Shut up! yells Killmaster, the dead man in my head. What are you doing?!
The cleaning maid lifts a chair, vacuums underneath, sets it back.
“Help!”
The maid continues her salsa dancing and humming and the next message scrolls across my heads-up display: ANCHOR INTEGRITY COMPROMISED BY 92%.
I release the line and heave both elbows over the sill. My feet scramble on the exterior wall—push, slip—push. I’m burning up inside the super suit. Muscles shaking. Elbows and forearms dig in. Pull! Jagged glass—my body-armored stomach rakes over it.
ANCHOR INTEGRITY COMPROMISED BY 100%. GOODBYE.
Fuck.
A slight jerk on the zip-line—it flips and twists like an epileptic Black Mamba snake as it reels itself in. The line flips overhead, slaps me in the butt, snaps into my belt. I’m rocketed the rest of the way into the room. Killmaster seizes control of my body; I tuck and roll, missing the cleaning maid, and then I’m kneeling by the bedroom and rubbing my pulsing butt.
Go, go, go! says Killmaster, urging me out the door.
I grab the Z ring—pull. Warm slime slithers over my face, neck, legs, body and arms, and the super suit vanishes back inside the ring.
What’re you doing? asks Killmaster.
I can’t go out into the hallway dressed like that, I reply, stuffing the ring into my pocket.
Why not?
Well, how will it look? I’m sure this is fine for a Special Ops ditty in Afghanistan, but it’s a little aggressive for the W, don’tcha think?
What I think, says Killmaster, taking a tone, which, though telepathic, is no less clear, is that any second, that maid is going to be done vacuuming, and if we are still in here when that happens, she is going to freak the hell out.
The vacuum cleaner stops.
Oh shit, oh shit!
Hide! says Killmaster.
I lurch toward the see-through glass coffee table, unthinking.
Are you nuts? demands Killmaster.
The maid snatches a bottle of Windex from her cleaning cart. I freeze. She holds the Windex like a microphone, opens her mouth…and out comes an entire squadron of castrated frogs.
Jesus Christ! exclaims Killmaster. Sounds like she’s got the entire San Diego Zoo down her throat. Pandas! Christ, I think I heard a zebra.
Will you shut up and find me a place to hide?

About the Author

I am a collaborator of the American author Steven M. Moore. We met at Blarney Castle in Ireland (appropriate, don't you think?). After a wee bit of chatting there and emails to and fro, I signed on to be his collaborator for all his YA books. I love writing for young adults and adults who are young at heart. Some people think I'm related to that great Irish harpist and singer, Turlough O'Carolan, but who knows?--I don't think any of his DNA is around to check. Others say I was stolen and raised by leprechauns. We do a lot of kidding in Donegal, but maybe they know something I don't.

BLACKHEART by RAELLE LOGAN

No memory of his past, sentenced to death for a duel gone horrid, Lochlanaire Blackheart is commanded by King William to hunt Siren Rain. She’s the illegitimate daughter of ousted King James II. In capturing his prey, Lochlanaire must retrieve the ruby signet Siren dons. That jewel is the talisman of King James II, which proves Siren’s ancestry. Lochanaire, however, is unaware that at the moment he casts sail aboard his ship, Siren’s been kidnapped by his pirate brother, Zore. Lochlanaire must battle this cutthroat for the princess, spinning Siren into his web of treachery. Afterward, they’re shipwrecked, entwined in a union of inconvenience when Lochlanaire weds Siren under the witchery of gypsies. Lochlanaire soon enlightens Siren of her true father’s identity. She seduces her captor, desperate to conceive Lochlanaire’s child. She believes he cannot surrender her to die at King William’s hangman’s noose if their blood unites. When Lochlanaire’s stalked by a ghoul slaughtering the pirates aboard his ship, he never realizes that this fiend possesses a wicked secret. Siren must unravel all the Blackheart brothers’ secluded evils and save Lochlanaire, for he threads together a travesty by which to sacrifice himself to King William, all while opposing the two seething brothers who seek his demise for the tragedies reaped in Lochlanaire’s shattered past. In her own words Introducing Raelle Logan

I write historical romance, mostly about hot pirates, fiery damsels and evil villains. As a child, I wrote about Westerns. My Mom worked at library and one day she brought home a bunch of books she thought I might be interested in reading. I read one by Victoria Holt. I was hooked on romance. After getting married, my husband was offered an old laptop for his racing career. I started writing on the notepad, only to discover that the old beast wouldn't save my work...I bought my first computer. Since then, I've been writing about pirates. My goal is to paint a more realistic portrait of their lives while weaving together a scorching romance.
