In
growing up in a church, and then spending seven years in a Bible
College and Seminary, I was blessed to hear many outstanding and
gifted preachers and Bible teachers. Many used interesting stories or
illustrations to drive their points home. In listing of some of these
illustrations, I thought I would like to know more details. Sometimes
I wondered (thankfully not too often) if the details of the story
were really true or accurate as told. Beyond doubt, this could be
partly attributed to years of reading “Ripley’s Believe It Or
Not” feature in virtually every newspaper’s Sunday comics
section. With that in mind, I have included with each illustration
not only a title, Scripture verse and topic word, but also the source
of the historical story so anyone who is interested can, with the
help of modern technology and internet databases, not only find more
details regarding the story, but also find documentation to confirm
that each story can be validated.
The details of every
illustration are, as far as can be validated by historical records,
are true.
David
Young feels truly blessed! He is now retired and lives with his wife
Ruth in Sequim, Washington where he enjoys spending time with his
family, especially his 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren!
In
this indelible and deeply moving portrait of our time, two young
people, Beckman and Malany set out on an odyssey to find meaning and
reality in the artistic life, and in doing so unleash a barrage of
humorous, unintended consequences.
Beckman
and Malany's journey reflects the allegorical evolution of humanity
from its primal state, represented by Beckman's dismal life as a
dishwasher to the crude, medieval development of manking in a pool
hall, and then to the false but erudite veneer of sophistication of
the academic world.
The
world these protagonists life in is a world without love. It has
every other variety of drive and emotion, but not love. Do they know
it? Not yet. And they won't until they figure out why no birds sing
here.
Meier's
writing is precise and detailed, whether the situation he describes
is clear or ambiguous.
Fans of Franzen and Salinger will find
Meier to be another sharp, provocative writer of our time.
A
retired Aviation Safety Inspector for the FAA, Daniel V. Meier, Jr.
has always had a passion for writing. During his college years, he
studied History at The University of North Carolina Wilmington and
American Literature at The University of Maryland Graduate School. In
1980 he was published by Leisure Books under the pen name of Vice
Daniels. He also worked briefly for the Washington Business Journal
as a journalist and has been a contributing writer/editor for several
aviation magazines.
Dan and his wife live in Owings, Maryland,
about twenty miles south of Annapolis and when he's not writing, they
spend their summers sailing on the Chesapeake Bay.
Little Rush is a sleepy town on the Ohio
River. Bruce Michaels is a renowned Hollywood actor. The two should
never cross paths, yet one summer everything changes. The actor,
haunted by demons, chasing a ghost. The town, unaware. Until the two
collide.
Hudson, Willow, and Mason are high school seniors
with very different upbringings, but all on the verge of adulthood.
As the sun sets on their final summer, questions abound. Will they
ever leave the town? Is there a future here? As their plans waver,
time is running out.
The struggle of mental illness.
As
he loses his friends and sinks deeper into depression, Hudson forms
an unlikely bond with the actor, Bruce Michaels. But the old man is a
ticking time bomb. As Hudson relies on him more, the danger to them
both grows.
When dark secrets are revealed, Hudson must
confront the truth about his idol and himself. Bruce Michaels isn’t
who he seems. Hudson is nearly lost. And in the end, they may be more
similar than different.
The search for meaning.
Different
paths, converging in a web of alcohol, fights, and romance. Worlds
collide one summer in Anywhere, USA. The question is who will make it
through.

The
Witches of Vegas are back, and their lives will never be the same
again.
A
year has passed since The Witches of Vegas saved the city from the
evil Wiccan vampire, Valeria. Since then, the show has hit an
all-time high. So has the romance between teen witch Isis Rivera and
teenage magician, Zack Galloway.
Things
couldn't be any better for them until Isis develops seizures that
cause her power to spiral out of control. Fires and earthquakes are
just the beginning of the chaos caused by the misfired witchcraft.
Unable to find a cure, Isis' family journeys to New Salem, a fabled
village of witches which may or may not even exist. Meanwhile, Zack
ends up face to face with the only being who may have a
cure...Valeria. But does he dare pay her price?
Where
can Witches and their vampire mentor practice their powers without
being discovered or persecuted?
By
using their magic, the Witches of Vegas become the number one act
performing on the Las Vegas Strip—a great achievement for them, but
not so much for the magicians—who can't possibly keep pace.
Isis
Rivera is the adopted fifteen-year old daughter of The Witches of
Vegas. Zack Galloway is the teenage nephew and assistant to the last
magician left in the city. Although they should be rivals, when
Valeria, a four-hundred-year-old witch with a long-seeded grudge
against humanity arrives in Sin-City, both teens act to bring their
families together to stop the evil hag in her tracks.
But
can the combined witches' powers and the ingenuity of the magicians
be enough to stop Valeria from taking over the city and possibly the
world?

has come across throughout his life, coupled with his own wild "if
only I could do that" imagination. He is the author of the young
adult series, The Witches of Vegas. He is also credited with The
Rasner Effect series, a suspense/thriller trilogy published between
2009 and 2012.
Born
November, 25th, 1974, and raised in Queens New York, Mark holds a
Master's Degree from Long Island University's Human Development and
Leadership program. He is a licensed Guidance Counselor for the New

began his counseling career in September, 2001. Prior to that, he
worked in the hotel industry.
Mark
has also moonlighted as a professional magician. Today, he teaches
magic and Illusion to his students in order to teach teamwork while
developing their confidence.
Having
accomplished his goals of becoming an author, Mark decided on an
early retirement from writing. Then, one night, at two a.m., a new
and unique story shot into Mark's brain like a lightning bolt,
screaming for him to write it. Mark found himself spending several
nights taking notes on the characters and their stories. That is how
The Witches of Vegas was born.

Hannah
was told she would not make it to 25 with the way she was living. She
had struggled with mental illness her entire life, but at 22 her
demons came to a head at the grips of severe substance abuse,
life-changing trauma, and two major deaths in her life.
Hannah’s
struggles land her places no one ever hopes to grace; jail and psych
wards lead her to the brink of death. Running out of options she’s
left with two choices: live or die. This heart-wrenching memoir
combines recovery with bittersweet romance told in a raw presentation
that immerses the reader into the author’s dark state-of-mind in
every page.
Tiger
Stripes is going to add a valuable voice to the conversation about
women’s mental health issues.
If there is anything
Hannah believes in, it’s hope, but that wasn’t always the case.
For a long time, chaos was comfortable for Hannah, but at just 22 she
would have to make her hardest decision yet: was life really worth
living? Since picking up a pen Hannah has had a love for writing, and
as an adult it would become her greatest tool in healing from an
almost decade-long battle with severe mental illness and substance
abuse. Her first book, Tiger Stripes, is a harrowing, raw telling of
her year in and out of hospitals, treatment centers, and jail that
finally led her on the road to recovery and freedom.
Hannah was born in
Orange County, CA but has lived in the Los Angeles area for several
years. She now lives in West L.A. with her boyfriend. When she is not
writing she can be found reading, running, cooking, or finding the
best vegan eats in L.A.!
