Caught Up in It (Blu Carraway Mystery) by David Burnsworth

About the Author

David Burnsworth became fascinated with the Deep South at a young age. After a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee and fifteen years in the corporate world, he made the decision to write a novel. He is the author of both the Brack Pelton and the Blu Carraway Mystery Series. Having lived in Charleston on Sullivan’s Island for five years, the setting was a foregone conclusion. He and his wife call South Carolina home.

  1. Your bio says that at a young age you became fascinated by the Deep South. Where are you originally from?
Southwestern Pennsylvania. One of my grandfathers worked in the coal mines and the other tended beehive coke ovens to support the WWII war effort’s need for steel, a lot of which was produced in nearby Pittsburgh.

  1. What triggered the fascination?

We moved to Atlanta when I was nine. It was a whole new world for me. I learned so much about American history as well as being exposed to the rich culture of a wonderfully progressive city.

  1. What’s your favorite Southern food dish?

Recently, BBQ.

  1. What’s your favorite Southern drink?

Sweet iced tea with lots of lemon, of course!

  1. I love rolling hills and mountains, and yet seem to end up in flat seasides. What is your favorite landscape?

My wife and I would one day like to have something with a water view, probably close to or on a lake, surrounded by mountains.  I lived at the beach near Charleston and loved it but now we live inland and enjoy the elevation.

  1. Mechanical Engineering is your discipline, do you use it in your writing?Do you have a Q like character in any of your books or future plans like Ian Fleming?

Probably not. To be honest, I prefer things more analog.  Handguns and fast cars and iPhones mostly for making phone calls. My books focus on the characters and the problems.  But, I am a James Bond fan.

  1. Favorite Author?

John Sanford and James Lee Burke

  1. Favorite TV series?

Peaky Blinders and recently The Wire

  1. My favorite movie set in the south is Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Do you have a southern setting favorite movie?

Storyville, an early nineties Mark Frost movie set in New Orleans

Thanks for dropping by. Best wishes for the greatest success.

About the Book
The award-winning diva, C, has got a big problem: someone wants her dead. A team of mercenaries attempts to gun her down in Kuala Lumpur. Lucky for her, Lowcountry Private Investigator, Blu Carraway, is already on the job there for a different client.
Double-lucky for C, they make their move when she’s chit-chatting with him in a bar. Unlucky for the mercenaries, four of them end up dead.
The hunt is on now for the mega-pop star. Where does she go to hide out? The sleepy islands around Charleston, South Carolina—Blu’s backyard. He’s already proven himself once, so C hires the Blu Carraway Investigation Agency to protect her for real.
The job takes Blu halfway around the world and several cities in between. The search for the truth reveals what could drive a person to want someone else dead.
And Blu Carraway ends up right in the way.
