Re-posted from MUSINGS OF A NEW ENGLANDER

2012-12-24 09.34.45
At the end of each December, people make a list of resolutions that they will try to accomplish in the new year. I am no exception. I keep mine simple and tend to use the same ones for they are what I need to try to concentrate on.
1-Try to eat right and exercise- For the most part I been doing well with this.
2-Save a little bit of money each month- This one well I am soso on. We all know when emergency hits the saving get plundered.
3-Try to treat others like you want to be treated- I can work on this more.
I might have some stragglers in the four and fifth spots but my primary ones are listed above. That was until I came across something on Facebook that made me pause. The post mentioned to get a jar out and every time something nice happens regardless how small, place that on a piece of paper and put it in the container. By the end of 2013 empty it and see how many awesome things happened that you probably forgot occurred.
I really love this idea. We tend to narrow in on the big events in our lives. The items that made us pause and wonder about. The little things sometimes get overlooked or just completely forgotten. So I have decided to do this for the year 2013. I am already excited to see what will be placed in the jar. The little things that made my day but got left at the waste side due to the hectic way of life. Perhaps this happens since it was not earth shattering by today’s standards. Maybe this will change my perception, I really hope it does.
Happy New Year every one. With that I hope it is an amazing year and that along the way you don’t ignore the little things in life that are just as important.

About

Sharon is a native of New England, raised in Northern Maine. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and son. She is owned by a flock of 8 birds.
Growing up Sharon never thought of becoming a writer. To her it was for people who had the skills to transfer amazing ideas onto paper. However her husband had mentioned to one of their friends that he felt Sharon wrote really well. Soon afterwards she started thinking of a story in her head and it just would not go away. Later that same year of 2009 she had two surgeries within 3 months of each other. With time to recover, she started placing her thoughts on paper and it just went from there. Since then a multitude of short stores, a novelette and a children’s book has been written. It always amazes her still how writing will take over a person’s life.
Sharon has a B.S. Degree in Chemistry but is currently disabled so writing keeps her busy. She tends to lose all track of time. The world could be coming to an end and Sharon would be oblivious to it. When this author is writing, she envision the scenes in her head. She try to imaging the reality of what is written down on paper. The different options, scenes and problems will be listed down on the side in case it can use them later. Sharon tend to write by long hand- the flow works better for her.
The authors you would see in her bookshelves would be Stephen King, Agatha Christie, Bentley Little and James Patterson.
The best advice she has ever received about writing was write about what you know. When she first heard this the first thought was “ Yeah right.” But it really is that easy. A writer just needs to know a little tidbit and turn it into a short story and soon enough a book.
On the side she love to read, take pictures, walk, exercise, go to the movies and listen to music. Sharon is a budding bird watcher and learning to crochet on the side. She run a book club in town but also is a member of one at a local library. She is a huge sports fan which includes baseball, basketball hockey and football.

Full moon memoDear full moon friends,

The full moon will be on Friday!

The 21st December has passed and the world is still standing :-) ... It shows yet again, that we need to take ancient messages symbolically and not literally. This is valid for prophecies as well as for stories in the great books of wisdom of human kind. The razzamatazz about the alleged apocalypse makes it apparent how far people are removed from their inner voice. So let's make use of the time of reflection around this New Year, to turn within just a little …

Friday * 28th December 2012 * 11:21:12 am

NEW REVIEW for The Bridge of Deaths

BUY HERE ON AMAZON

4.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing Read, December 22, 2012

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This review is from: The Bridge of Deaths (Paperback)

M.C.V. Egan's The Bridge of Death is quite an undertaking of intelligent research, fiction, metaphysics, and relationship story telling wrapped into the very clever umbrella of detective work. The story of Bill and Maggie interconnecting with Catalina via e-mails and skype is very clever combined with the historical back drop of intrigue and mystery and to have the real story, the mystery unfold through psychics as confirmed in a hypnotherapists office is very intriguing. Having done graduate work at UCLA and therefore gained an understanding of the value and tediousness of time and labor involved in research, I give kudos to Egan for this effort, where there is certainly no lack. That it is based on a real history, real deaths, real autopsy reports makes for a fascinating read.

Addison Westlake making a difference for the people of Newtown

Addison Westlake, author of “Christmas in Wine Country”

So Honored to have Addison Westlake as our guest. Addison has found a way to help the families of last week's senseless events.

Thank you to the nearly 10,000 people who downloaded a copy of “Christmas in Wine Country” this weekend! I did a free 2-day promo and am so grateful that people heard about it and decided to take a look. It reached #24 on the Top 100 Free Best Sellers on Amazon. And that’s after two weeks as a top 20 paid bestseller in chick lit and humorous fiction.

When I self-published “Christmas in Wine Country” as an ebook on Amazon in mid-November, I didn’t expect much. I’d finished it over a year ago, but the literary agent who initially expressed interest ended up declining. I then did nothing with the book until the Sunday morning before Thanksgiving when my husband took the kids with him to the gym and I stayed home to wash the kitchen floor. Halfway through washing that floor, I jumped up and put my book up on Amazon instead. Mostly looking for a way to avoid housecleaning…

I expected my mom would read it. Add to that my mother-in-law and close girlfriends and I thought maybe I’d get 100 people to read my book. As of December 17th, 20,250 people have a copy! To anyone reading this who is also a writer—the largest portion of this has been achieved through successful free promo days on Kindle Direct Publishing. I highly recommend it—notify websites and Twitter accounts that promote free books and give it a try. And feel free to email me if you’d like more details on exactly who I contacted—happy to help if I can: addisonwestlake@gmail.com

The popularity of “Christmas in Wine Country” has been a joyful and unexpected gift for our family. The best thing to do with a gift, of course, is pass along. Over the weekend while my husband and I were watching the numbers of copies my book downloaded go up, we were also—as was the rest of the country—grappling with the horrific news of the school shooting in Connecticut. I lack the words to express how deeply reeling in grief I am over this tragedy.

But I do have the proceeds from my book. Everything the book earns this year I’m going to donate to a charity helping the families of the school shooting victims. It’s not much; it’s just a self-published a 0.99 cent book. But this holiday season it will be how I express my gratitude and send love to all those dealing with such inconceivable loss. Thank you to Catalina Egan for hosting my guest blog post and for helping to get the word out.

A great book for all ages from 9 to 90

                                   MUNGAI
                                       AND
                     THE GOA CONSTRICTOR
(recommended reading age: 9 to 90)

Visit Mungai and the Goa Constrictor’s Website

Probably one of the best books you and your family will read this year!

Likened to both Orwell’s Animal Farm and Kipling’s Jungle Book (though a very different tale) it is hoped Mungai and the Goa Constrictor will one day take its place amongst the great children’s classics.

Action, adventure, humour, friendship, environmental awareness and shamelessness trying to steal a march on innocence– all in one very entertaining book!

Just some of the things people are saying!

“This was a clever, enjoyable, different, well-crafted story and one I’d love to see as an animated movie. Both the book (and the movie!) would appeal to older children and adults alike” (Beeshon Reviews- UK)

“Excellent book! Thought provoking and fun! This is a story that could take its place among the best in fairy tales – with a lesson–but not only for children”  (The Happy Looker “T.H.L.” – Boston, MA, USA)

“Amelia Curzon has created a beautiful fable in “Mungai and the Goa Constrictor” that warns of the effects of destruction of the forest in a fashion that is innocent, entertaining and compelling”  (Scarlett Rains Reviews – Ohio, USA)

Filled with humour and told through the eyes of animals, the reader is taken on a compelling journey through the jungle, together with a wealth of colourful and enjoyable characters, conspiracies and the unlikely friendships forged between the various species of the animal kingdom. Timeless!
