The Object-Book Project:
My name is Richard Towers (pseudonym of
Martinho Torres) and I’m the creator of the Object-Book. The concept is based on
a simple principle: each book is also a real and functional object. In 2011, the
first two object-books were released: Tempo (the clock-book) and Reflexions (the
mirror-book). In 2012, The chess-book “The Challenge” saw the light of the day.
This concept is a whole new look at the
book and his multiples facets – these books are conceived to compose an art
gallery in every house: on the hall, the bedroom, the chamber, the living-room,
anywhere...

Imagine your living-room wall with a working clock-book, a mirror-book, a frame-book... You will blow your guest’s mind! They will be asking: what is this? And you will answer: try to guess!... At the end, they will discover... books! Beautiful books hung on the wall! And only you will know the secret stories inside them...
The clock-book "Tempo" is essentially an narrative/essay on Time. Each book takes is object has the theme. So the clock-book talks about Time. It has 100 pages and, when we finish reading it, we hang it on the wall, put a battery (it's already on) and it starts ticking.

The
mirror-book "Reflexions" is a novel which leads us through the glass. Victor
begins is voyage by looking himself in the mirror and starts to discover that he
has a second personality. So, who is he? That's what we try to find every time
we look at ourselves in the mirror...
It can be hung and has a passe-partout
The
chess-book The Challenge is quite a piece of art. It's the story of Karpin, an
undefeatable chess player who is defied to an unique challenge: to play with the
best player of all time. It's a journey onto glory, defeat, winning and
challenging that leads us to insanity.

play on the chessboard cover of the book.

My latest
masterpiece - The frame-book Elements - Earth, Air, Water and Fire. Each book
enters a frame and the four books compose a final picture when we hang them on
the wall.
